How it connects with the verses on immortality:
Romans 2:7 spoke of persevering in doing good, seeking glory, honor, and immortality. That is the direction of the human desire toward the eternal.
1 Corinthians 15:53–54 showed the corruptible clothed with incorruption — language of a change of garments.
1 Timothy 6:16 and 2 Timothy 1:10 declared that only God possesses immortality, and that Christ reveals it.
Now, 2 Corinthians 5 adds the image of the eternal house in the heavens:
It is not about escaping the earthly, but about the mortal being absorbed by life.
It is not about being found “naked” (that is, without being), but clothed with the eternal.
The Spirit is given as a pledge, a guarantee of that transformation.
